Love. Congrats. Kyra.

Being asked to work with people you know is not only an honour, but is always a Blast!

The beautiful bride Kyra was a fellow HHDA dancer with me for many many years!! When she asked me to do the makeup for her wedding I was SUPER excited!! I mean, I’m used to seeing her either super sweaty in the studio, or with intense blush and red lips on stage.  ;P

Needless to say, I was excited to GLAM her up for her wedding day!  She is such a beautiful girl so my job was pretty simple!!  For her Bridal look, we went with earth tones and neutral browns on her eyes, lined with a deep brown gel and soft brow.  Kyra loves her bronzer so we amped it up with beach bronzed skin and a natural, warm, rose on her lip!!  We finished it off with a pretty highlight swept across her cheek bone and fabulous lashes!!  Her final look was flawless beauty!!  Isn’t she stunning!? Seriously! Dave is one lucky dude!!

I hope to have more pictures from the blushing bride, but for now this is what her Photographer has shared so far!!

Thank you again Kyra for including me in your wedding prep. I had so much fun and shared a lot of laughs with your family and bridal party!!  Such a super chill group!!

2012 Spring/Summer Trends!!

Its time to freshen up your makeup bag with some of 2012’s Spring/Summer colours and trendy shades!!!  My MAC masterclass is next weekend and I can not wait to pick up some fabulous new colours for this season!!

Carrying over from last fall/winter, the light, soft, fresh face returns this Spring/Summer. The warmer season brings warm, luminous faces with just a hint of color.  The focus of the season will be on soft eyes with sheer pastel colors and naturally shadowed brows; flush and rosy cheeks, metallic and sparkling shadows in lighter shades paired with soft pink, coral or nude shades on the lips.  The classic red lip is always in the now, and will continue throughout the Spring/Summer (paired only with a soft eye of course).

There will be bright, vibrant colors, of course, but will be toned-down versions of the neon shades that were hot last summer. Smoky eyes will return, but say good bye to black and charcoal shades and introduce the earth tone smoky eye colours to your makeup kit !! (Smoky Browns have always been my FAVOURITE!!)

Eye shadow will be kept soft this season!! Think pinks, nudes, champagnes, and light pastels and will be lined with pastel shades of green, lavender, silver and soft baby blues.  Silver and metallic shades are trending in eye shadow this season, but keep it soft and “barely there”, instead of thick and heavy!!

With the softness of this seasons eye colour trends, feel free to add a punch of colour to your pout!! Corals, Reds, (tinted) Oranges are all this years Lip trends.  No need to say good bye to your Niki Minaj Pink just yet, Soft pastel pinks are sticking around too.  Frosted/shimmery shades are taking a back seat this season, so when picking out your Spring/Summer colours go with a matte/lustre finish topped with a super shinny gloss.

For Spring/Summer the “almost bare”, fresh face is in!! Ditch the heavy foundations and double powder!  Instead use a sheer foundation or tinted moisturizer that matches your skin tone. Add a small amount of rosy pink or apricot blush to the apples of your cheeks for the perfect “naturally flushed” look.  So soft. So Pretty.

Booked. Solid. (or so I thought!)

Happy Easter Monday!!!

I thought I should just give a quick update with regards to 2012 bookings!

2 weeks ago I was contacted by a lovely MOH and recently just booked my last bride for 2012…..or so I thought!! LOL I specifically only had September 15th, 2012 left as an open date and my newest Bride, Mandy Stein scooped that date up quickly!! With Mandy booking for September 15, 2012, my Saturday’s are officially booked solid for the rest of 2012!!! How amazing is that??? I am SOOO looking forward to working with all of my amazingly beautiful Brides this year 🙂

However….just when I think I am done booking for the year, Friday and Sunday Brides pop up left and right !! I LOVE a good ol’ non-traditional bride 🙂 Having been married on a Friday myself, I think its FABULOUS!!!

That being said, I just booked another Friday AND Sunday Bride for 2012 last week!!

So yes….“technically” I’m booked solid for 2012 but ladies, if you are planning a Weekday/Sunday wedding- Please contact me to request your date- it may still be available 🙂 and I’d LOVE to glam you up for your big day!!! .

Much love

M, xo

p.s. For all the 2012 Brides who have inquired and I am unfortunately already booked, Im sooo sorry 😦 I wish I had 10 hands so I could do it all!!…I hate having to turn down Brides- I think its time to hire an assistant!!
